Chambers was established in 1953 during the post-war period by a group of Temple barristers who went on to achieve distinction in their fields. Early members included Norman Skelhorn QC, later Director of Public Prosecutions (1964–1977), alongside Raymond Stock QC, Nat Blaker QC, JH Inskip QC, John Jenkins and John Whitley. The set quickly expanded, with members practising across a wide circuit in addition to their London work. Today, Chambers comprises over 70 practitioners who regularly prosecute and defend cases across London and other regions. It has been led by a succession of distinguished Heads of Chambers, more recently adopting joint leadership under Matthew Farmer and Russell Pyne. Following the return of the Director of Clerking in 2012, Chambers underwent significant restructuring and modernisation, strengthening its position as a forward-looking and inclusive set. It promotes diversity across cultural and professional backgrounds and maintains a collaborative and client-focused approach. With modern facilities and a strong team ethos, Chambers continues to deliver high-quality advocacy and legal services across a broad range of practice areas.
