1 High Pavement Chambers is a leading criminal law set on the Midlands Circuit, comprising barristers dedicated to criminal advocacy and specialising in both prosecution and defence work. Members handle all types of criminal cases, from the most serious offences, including murder, to matters before the Magistrates’ Court, while maintaining a consistent focus on fairness and justice. Chambers maintains an excellent working relationship with the East Midlands branch of the Crown Prosecution Service and receives instructions from specialist units, including the Complex Casework Unit and Appeals Units. All members are on the CPS Advocate Panel, with most also serving on specialist panels. Chambers undertakes private prosecutions on behalf of statutory bodies, local authorities, and individuals, ensuring proceedings are conducted with professionalism, efficiency, and diligence. In criminal defence, members provide advice and advocacy across all areas, including cases involving serious and complex allegations, and are instructed to represent clients at all stages of proceedings. Their advocacy skills are also applied in other arenas involving alternative forms of prosecution, maintaining the same high standards of representation. Established over three decades ago with a dedicated focus on criminal practice, Chambers has become a circuit and national set recognised for the range and quality of its work and continues to provide a high level of service and support through close collaboration with professional clients.
