Adam Vaitilingam KC is a leading silk on the Western Circuit, specialising in serious crime, health and safety, and environmental law. Recognised by Chambers & Partners as “an absolutely fantastic advocate… calm, cool and collected”, he is consistently ranked as a specialist across all three areas. He has prosecuted and defended many of the country’s most high-profile cases over the past decade. He sits as a Recorder of the Crown and County Courts and served as a deputy High Court judge until 2025. He was shortlisted for Crime Silk of the Year at the Legal 500 Awards 2025.

His criminal practice spans prosecution and defence in major cases, including high-profile murder, terrorism, fraud, driving offences, and serious sexual offences. In health and safety matters, he represents a broad range of clients in cases involving fatalities and serious injury. His environmental practice includes acting in pollution, land contamination, and waste management cases, as well as advising on permitting.

He also handles a wide range of regulatory matters and represents parents in complex child law fact-finding proceedings. Alongside practice, he lectures extensively on human rights law and advocacy.
