Sian Huckett will become Senior Clerk as Fountain Court confirms 2027 clerking appointments
Fountain Court Chambers has announced a planned change to its clerking leadership, confirming that Sian Huckett will become Senior Clerk from 1 January 2027. At the same time, Luke Diebelius and Alfie Harper will be promoted to Deputy Senior Clerks as part of the new leadership structure.
Huckett will succeed Alex Taylor, who has led Fountain Court’s clerking team since 2008. Following the transition, Taylor will continue to support chambers in a part-time consultancy role. According to Fountain Court, Huckett’s appointment also marks the first time a woman will lead the clerking team at one of the Bar’s elite commercial sets.
Huckett joined Fountain Court in 2008 before becoming Deputy Senior Clerk in 2018. In 2023, she received the Legal 500 Bar Awards’ Clerk of the Year accolade. Her promotion follows nearly two decades with the chambers and several years in a senior leadership position within the clerking team.
Diebelius and Harper will also take on greater responsibilities from the start of 2027. Both joined Fountain Court as Team Leader Assistants before being promoted to Team Leaders in 2019. The chambers said their appointments as Deputy Senior Clerks recognise their contribution to client service, practice management and clerking excellence.
Richard Handyside KC, Head of Chambers, praised the incoming leadership team and acknowledged the contribution made by the outgoing Senior Clerk.
He said the quality of the clerking team has long been central to Fountain Court’s strength and the service it provides to clients. Handyside described Huckett, Diebelius and Harper as outstanding clerks who are trusted by both members and clients. He also paid tribute to Taylor, saying his leadership had played an instrumental role in shaping the team and maintaining its standards.
Commenting on her appointment, Huckett said it was a real honour to become Senior Clerk at Fountain Court and to lead what she described as an exceptional clerking team. She added that the chambers’ reputation is built on the quality of its people, relationships and service, and said those principles would remain central to its work.
Fountain Court said the appointments will take effect on 1 January 2027. The chambers noted that its clerking team continues to support a set recognised as Chambers & Partners’ Set of the Year in 2025 and shortlisted for Set of the Year at the 2026 Legal Business Awards.
