St Ives Chambers
About Us
St Ives Chambers is named after Ivo of Kermartin (1253–1303), canonised by Pope Clement VI in 1347 and recognised as the patron saint of lawyers. Founded around 1965, Chambers was initially based on Temple Street before moving to Printing House Street. In approximately 1987, it relocated to Number 9 Fountain Court, retaining its name rather than adopting a numerical identity. At that time, Chambers remained smaller than most sets, with around a dozen members. Growth began in the 1990s, leading to new premises on Whittall Street, adjoining Fountain Court, with the move completed in July 1999; these premises continue to serve as Chambers’ base. Over time, they have been adapted to meet the needs of modern practice. Chambers has maintained a longstanding policy of careful recruitment and organic growth, with two notable exceptions: the addition of several members from Number 3 Fountain Court in 2006, and the arrival of 11 members from KCH Garden Square in Nottingham in autumn 2024. In early 2025, Chambers expanded by opening a second premises at Cubo, Standard Court, strengthening its ability to represent clients across the Midland Circuit. Chambers is recognised for combining traditional values with an approachable manner and a commitment to high-quality legal advice.
