Fountain Chambers is a progressive barristers’ chambers in the North-East of England with offices in Middlesbrough and Newcastle. Founded 50 years ago by Geoffrey Davey, Chambers began in Baker Street and moved to the Cleveland Business Centre in 1992. It has grown and adapted to meet the changing needs of the local community, developing from a predominantly criminal set into chambers whose barristers now practise across all areas, with particularly strong teams in criminal and family law at every level of seniority. Former members have been appointed to judicial office, and a number of current members sit part-time as District Judges, Recorders and Assistant Coroners across the region. Chambers included the first two silks appointed from Teesside, Tim Roberts KC and Jamie Hill KC. In 2020, Collette Price became Head of Chambers, the first woman and first family practitioner elected to the role. Chambers is committed to providing a friendly, high-quality service to solicitors, individuals, unions, businesses, and local and national government departments, while continuing to develop its practice to meet changing legal demands and maintain strong local roots.
